About MazaCAM:
So, what is MazaCAM? MazaCAM is an advanced off-line programming system for the Mazak CNC machine tools. But what does that mean exactly? It means that in addition to the conventional method of programming a Mazak (on the control), you can program your Mazaks completely off-line in your office, or even on the road. This in itself is only a small fraction of the capabilities and features of MazaCAM, these are some of the reasons why MazaCAM is an advanced off-line programming system.
Who uses MazaCAM?
MazaCAM is in use by many large plants such as Boeing North American and Lockheed Martin, but is also utilized in many small job shops, or start-up machine shops. It was developed to be easy-to-use for those new to off-line programming, and yet deliver the power that is needed for those experienced users. Primarily, MazaCAM addresses Mazatrol, but many shops use MazaCAM if they have a variety of controls on the shop floor, Mazatrol and G-code, and need a system that integrate all of them with one system.
What does MazaCAM consist of?
MazaCAM is a complete programming system, seamlessly composed of the following:
- Geopath CAD/CAM -- Geopath is SolutionWare’s premier CAD/CAM system. It is very easy-to-use, and gives the Mazak user a complete set of CAD and CAM features. - Mazak Utilities -- Seamlessly integrated into the Geopath CAD/CAM system are SolutionWare’s Mazak utilities. These utilities consist of:
- MazaCAM File Commander -- An intelligent solution that gives programmers a master console for Mazak file management, editing, conversions and communications with Mazak CNCs. For more information please see our MazaCAM File Commander page
- Mazatrol Off-line Editor -- The Mazatrol Off-line Editor can be used to either write a Mazatrol program from scratch, or to load in existing programs to be edited. The Editor provides one with the standard Mazatrol set of commands. The Mazatrol appears similar to that on the Mazatrol control, but as the Mazatrol Off-line Editor is Windows® based, it takes full advantage of Windows features such as pop-up menus, scroll bars and copy-and-paste capabilities. - Mazak Communications -- Upload and download capabilities to and from the control. Also communicate with the Mazak Microdisk and all popular DNC systems.

Upload & Download Programs
Upload and download Mazatrol programs to and from the Mazatrol control, using MazaCAM’s communications features. Thus, you can store existing Mazatrol programs on your PC’s hard drive for later use and keep your control’s memory freed up.
Mazatrol Editing & Data Entry
Using the Mazatrol Off-line Editor, write new Mazatrol programs from scratch, or edit existing ones on your own PC or laptop.
Convert CAD to Mazatrol and G-Code
Convert popular CAD formats, such as DXF, IGES, and CADL formats to Mazatrol and G-Code. NOTE: The G-Code generated by MazaCAM is post-processed to output edit-free G-Code for specific controls (such as Fanuc, Yasnac, Mazatrol EIA, Okuma OSP, etc.).
Draw New, or Edit Existing CAD Files
Draw CAD files from scratch, or edit existing ones with a full featured CAD system and then output those to Mazatrol and G-Code.

Convert Mazatrol to G-Code

Convert Mazatrol Programs Between Control Kinds
You can convert programs from one Mazak machine to another, even converting older Integrex such as T3 or T32 to the newer Integrex or e-Machine. The CAD/CAM system is compatible with the range of generations of Mazak controls from the earliest T2 to the latest Matrix control. It supports M2, M32, M-Plus, Fusion 640M, T1, T2, T3, T32, T-Plus, Fusion 640T, 640MT, Fusion-Pro and the Matrix controls.
Print Mazatrol Programs
MazaCAM lets you print out your Mazatrol programs for easy reference.
Geometry Simplification
The Mazatrol language is not capable of using splines, so when dealing with DXF and IGES files that contain splines, MazaCAM can automatically convert splines to lines and arcs so that these two can be converted to Mazatrol.
Black-plot Mazatrol to and Editable CAD File
Take existing Mazatrol files and back-plot them to an editable CAD file. This also automatically imports all tool data.
The Mazatrol Off-line Editor:
MazaCAM also includes the Mazatrol Off-line Editor. The Editor lets users write new, or edit existing Mazatrol programs, in Mazatrol. Because the Mazatrol Off-line Editor is a Windows® based application, it takes full advantage of the Windows features such as copy/paste and pop-up menus. Some features the Editor gives the user are additional to those on the Mazatrol control. Here is a brief overview of the Mazatrol Off-line Editor:
- Cut and Paste between programs:
- individual lines
- a Mazatrol process-unit
- a shape
- the entire program
- Insert lines:
- like the Mazak
- before the current line (unlike the Mazak)
- after the current line (unlike the Mazak)
- Plot the part shape, similar to ‘shape check’ on the Mazatrol control, except the Editor automatically highlights the geometry of the part you have placed the cursor at.
- Pop-Up Menus prompt you through the programming process.
- Scroll Bars help you navigate swiftly through your program, instead of only ‘up’ and ‘down’ buttons.
- Mazatrol Prompting helps you write your Mazatrol program by defining what data is needed for the field you are entering the value for.
- Backplot Mazatrol programs to a Geopath CAD file, at this point the program is converted as geometry in a CAD file with tooling information. At this point the CAD file can be output as G-Code for other machines*, please see diagram. (*A full MazaCAM package with the CAD/CAM is required to do this.)
